The E Trumpet is usually a smaller more compact trumpet; the Schilke Company made many
different styles, and they come in the keys of E flat and E natural. The E2 is a smalltrumpet with a fixed bell and is in the key of E flat. It was first introduced to the musicworld in 1968. The E3L is a very popular model, also from 1968 and became the standard from which all other E flat trumpets were and are now judged. The E3L-4 is exactly the same but with a fourth valve making it a different key.
